Sweet rice is a dish in my culture

Sweet rice is a dish in my culture. Just as the name states, it is just sweet rice. To make it you do not need any special rice, but my family usually prepares it with white rice. The finished product is like a sweet, thick paste. When we do not eat it at weddings, we usually prepare it with puri. Puri is like a sweet, roti like food. You would eat it together, puri and sweet rice.

When there is a wedding, it is customary to have a period of time where the couple engages in certain activities. On one day the bride-to-be chooses some little boys and the groom-to-be chooses some little girls. The next event happens separately. The groom-to-be and the girls each get a leaf that is used as a bowl. Each person gets a portion of the sweet rice and eats it. The bride-to-be and the boys each get a leaf that is used as a bowl also and receives a portion of the sweet rice. That is how it was incorporated into my culture.
